AE 3000 COURSE OVERVIEW
AE 3000 is a tuition-free, zero-credit course at TXST designed to formally recognize internship experiences for undergraduate students of any major. Offered each fall, spring, and summer, AE 3000 features reflection-based career curriculum and optional professional development resources. The course supports you throughout your internship and ensures the experience appears on your official transcript.

Course Structure & Assignments:
The course is self-paced and fully online, meant to be completed during an internship. Students are required to complete five total assignments:
- Pre-internship career readiness self-evaluation
- Goal setting for internship success (3-5 goals)
- Mid-experience prompt-guided reflection (1-2 pages)
- Final prompt-guided reflection (1-2 pages)
- Post-internship career readiness self-evaluation
Other weekly assignments and prompts will be optional for deeper engagement. These optional assignments will provide additional guidance on how you can maximize your internship experience and get the most out of it.
Grading: Credit (CR) upon completion of all required assignments.
REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY
Student Eligibility: The course is available for currently enrolled, degree-seeking undergraduate students at TXST. Students must have already secured an internship taking place concurrently with course enrollment. Prior completed internships do not qualify.
Enrollment dates for the course will follow university registration dates.
Internship Eligibility: To be eligible for the course, the internship:
- must be at least 60 hours long over a minimum of 6 weeks during the same semester or summer of enrollment
- must be professionally oriented, assigning students meaningful projects with learning components
- must provide regular access to the supervisor
- must be at an established nonprofit, for-profit, or public organization
- can be virtual, in-person, or hybrid
- can be paid or unpaid
Application Instructions: You need instructor approval to take AE 3000. To apply, follow these instructions:
- Follow the link below and login to Handshake
- Select the Submit an Experience button
- Select the AE 3000: Zero-Credit Internship Course – Application Experience template from the drop-down
- Fill out all required fields and hit submit
- On the next screen, find the New Attachment button and upload your offer letter.
Your offer letter will need to include your internship title, the company name, expectations of the role, approximate hours to be worked, and start and end dates. If that information is in multiple documents or emails, feel free to submit multiple attachments. If all of the information is not included, attach what you have, and we will reach out if we need more! Your offer letter can be an official document or it may be an email.

I need help finding an internship. Can this course help?
While the AE 3000 course may not be an option for you to enroll in yet, Career Services assists students with internship search strategies. Please contact our office, and we will get you connected with the correct career educator and liaison to your college for an appointment!

Does AE 3000 count towards full-time enrollment or financial aid eligibility?
No. AE 3000 is zero-credit and does not contribute toward full-time status for enrollment of financial aid purposes. Students should enroll in other courses as needed to maintain status.

Is AE 3000 available each semester?
Yes. AE 3000 is offered every fall, spring, and summer semester.

Will AE 3000 affect my GPA?
No. Completion results in a CR (credit) grade, which is not factored into GPA.

Can international students enroll in AE 3000 for CPT eligibility?
No. International students cannot enroll in AE 3000 at this time. However, we are actively working with ISSS to create a process that meets CPT requirements and is an option for our international students in the future.

Can I enroll after I have already completed my internship?
No. Only internships occurring during the semester of enrollment are eligible.

Can graduate students take this course?
No. AE 3000 is only open to undergraduate students.

Can Round Rock students enroll in this course?
Yes. They will follow the same process as San Marcos Main Campus students.
