Resume and Cover Letter Class Assignment
We greatly appreciate our faculty's efforts to incorporate career readiness into their courses. If you wish to incorporate a resume or cover letter assignment into your course, please follow the procedures below. This process has been established to help us ensure that all TXST students and alumni receive quality and timely feedback on their application materials.
- Fill out the Resume and Cover Letter Class Assignment Request form and send it to Dr. Greg Hill, our assistant director for career counseling. Dr. Hill will email instructors to confirm your timeline and any other related details.
- Create an assignment in Canvas to collect your students documents. All documents should be submitted as either Microsoft Word or PDF documents.
- Download all submitted documents as a ZIP file from Canvas and email that file to Dr.Hill. He will share these resumes with the counselors who will review them.
- Counselors will email their responses directly to the students at the email addresses provided on their resumes. Depending on the size of the class, it may take between 3 and 10 business days for our staff to complete reviews.
Prior to any submissions, we encourage course instructors to request a class presentation from our office, to provide best practices for resume or cover letter creation.
If a class presentation is not possible, we have a range of resources related to resume and cover letter creation found on our website under quick guides. If instructors require proof that students completed their resume reviews, we suggest a second assignment in Canvas, to collect the edited resumes.
Please email us at careergoal@txstate.edu or call our office at 512-245-2645 if you have any questions.
